What a nice voting story. I live in West LA, so I hoping for a celebrity sighting while on line to vote too, but - no such luck. It was, though, a very joyous and celebratory line, with people chatting happily to each other as we waited our turns.

I enjoyed this recount also. I'm from Australia and we, like the rest of the world, are following this election very closely. In fact, even the local glossy fashion magazines have run stories on the US election.

We don't really understand the appeal of Palin over here. Our religious right doesn't have the clout that the US religious right does. I think it has to do with the fact voting is compulsory here in Australia. We get fined if we don't vote. Then if we don't vote the next time around, we get fined even more and so on.

i loved your story. i voted early too, though there were a half dozen places to do so in this relatively small town of wilmington nc. it took about two hours to finish the whole process, and i talked in line with folks too. about their voting for mccain and why. but also about the toxic food supply and how we've had gas shortages inland here in the state but not on the coast. about rising unemployment (i just took a pt job that deals with unemployment within the state), and also about what we think is coming in the next few years, even as we disagreed and had different info and expertise with issues. it was a well spent 2 hours, even if i didn't see celebrities . . . :)
